Rhode Island Children's Book Award Timeline

September 2023

The committee convenes and begins the process of selecting 20 nominees for the 2025 award. The committee meets monthly before finalizing the list in March 2024.

February 2024

Voting information and materials are made available to schools and public libraries interested in participating. Voting information will be on the RICBA voting web page, distributed in the RICBA newsletter, and shared on the RIYAC, RILINK and SLRI listservs.

March 1-April 30, 2024

Voting begins for the 2025 winner. All voting will be done through an online form that will be open February - March (final voting dates TBA). The link to access the online voting form will be available at this time and can be found on the voting page.

March 2024

The list of 2025 nominees are announced.

May 2024

The 2024 award winner is announced.

Spring 2024

The RI Children's Book Award committee selects three new committee members to serve a three year term. The committee will be soliciting applications from public youth services librarians, school librarians, and teachers with experience working with children in grades 3-5. The application will be available on the RICBA homepage and promoted in the RICBA newsletter, and the RIYAC, RILINK and SLRI listservs.
