OLIS - Frank Iacono Library

The Office of Library and Information Services (OLIS) is a member of the Ocean State Libraries (OSL) consortium. Cards are available for the following user groups:

  • State of Rhode Island employees which are non-RI residents.
  • School libraries that are certified members of the Library of Rhode Island (LORI) but do not belong to the OSL consortium.

  • Search for titles in the OSL (Ocean State Libraries) online catalog using your library card and have your items delivered to the location of your choice including the Frank Iacono Library
  • Loan period for OLIS materials is 3 weeks with renewals upon due date if there are no HOLDS on the item.
  • Drop off library materials for return to other Rhode Island libraries

OLIS staff is available Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 4 pm or call (401) 574-9000. Closed State holidays.

  • AskRI databases: AskRI serves as the online portal to the Statewide Reference Resource Center, which is managed by Providence Public Library and state-funded via OLIS. Through AskRI, all Rhode Island residents and libraries can access online resources and virtual reference services.
  • RI Learning CenterOLIS Quarterly Book Club: As part of the DOA Lunch and Learn series, OLIS offers a quarterly Book Club meeting for RI State Employees. Registration for each session is available in the RI Learning Center, and participants can attend as many sessions as interest them. OLIS receives copies of each title in various formats (as available through the Ocean State Libraries catalog) of the selected title and begins distributing them to participants roughly one month before the discussion. Once enrolled for a discussion in the Learning Center, employees should email Emily Goodman (emily.goodman@olis.ri.gov) to arrange to borrow a copy.
