The State of Rhode Island General Laws (RIGL) set forth statutes that establish boards, agencies and the laws that govern those agencies and their programs.



The following included sections of RIGL Title 29 Chapter 3.1 address the Office of Library and Information Services and the duties of the chief, which guide the activities of the office:

Per RIGL 29-3.1-5, the Director of Administration appoints a Chief of Library Services. Per RIGL 29-3.1-6, the Chief of Library Services is in the classified service.
